Jaws- An exhilarating mix of horror and suspense

5 stars

Jaws is THE perfectly constructed horror story.

Spielberg initially builds up tension through the death of Chrissie Watkins , hinting that there must be a violent creature lurking beneath the turbulent waves . The initially dismissive attitude of the mayor also helps to foreshadow further trouble , as another bloody shark attack on a young boy quickly proves him wrong. Soon after , Brody , Hooper and Quint set out to hunt the shark. The attempts to harpoon , shoot , and inject the shark with deadly poison in order to bring it to submission end up as miserable failures , highlighting the sheer might of the lethal Great-White and emphasizing the intense conflict between mankind and nature at the same time. Very soon , the ship begins to sink after repeated attacks , instilling a sense of doom and darkness deep within the hearts of the audience. However , A dramatic and sudden turn of events pushes the story straight up to the climax , inspiring feelings of excitement among the audience. The striking sound effects , combined with violent and bloody imagery makes the final confrontation against the great white shark extremely intense and visually spectacular . It’s a surely a nerve-racking experience for the audience!

All in all , Spielberg , the film writer , has paced the film beautifully so that one is always on edge , making the audience constantly scream in horror with his astonishingly impressive thriller—Jaws. Would definitely recommend it to others!
