Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third Fantastic Beasts film, and investigates Dumbledore's toxic relationship with the films antagonist, Gellert Grindelwald. Dumbledore, with the help of Newt Scamander and others protecting the qilin they rescued, which is a creature which has the ability to identify pure good from evil, without being biased in any way. This creature is then used to decide if Grindelwald is a worthy leader for the Wizarding World. Overall, I would describe the plot and ordering of events, quite messy, as I felt that the pespectives switched too quickly, and there were points where I wasn't quite sure what was happening. Although this was made up for by the magnificent acting which captivated the unique and sophisticated characters perfectly. This was particularly relevant for Mads Mikkelsen, who played the character of Grindelwald with a very subtle yet definite immorality which would make anyone watching have a strong dislike for his character. Although I did not like the character Queenie Goldstein as much as I feel was intended, as I think that she was too sickly sweet to not be sinister, and I was quite suspicious of her throughout the film. I was also pleasantly surprised about Scamander's assistants role at the end of the film, as I think she deserved the recognition for her loyalty. The special effects were immaculate and made all of the carefully designed creatures seem as if they were real, and the costuming was consistent in matching each character's personal style. Overall, I enjoyed this film due to the characters, but would recommend it to someone who is a Fantastic Beasts fan, because they would be able to appreciate the politics in the plot better than I am able to.
