Tom McGrath directs this amazing classic, prepare to laugh out loud as this films manages to bring back early 2000s memories.
Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo, have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape, with the help of some prodigious penguins, to explore the world.
I did feel this film leads well into the sequel, however the typical exaggerated animation style of dream works reflects other films of the era, the unforgettable disco style music used in the film give it the feeling of comedy and excitement.
The voice actors in this film perfectly execute the slapstick comedy of the characters and create the perfect happy feeling I got when watching this film.
I loved this film and would recommend it to anyone who loves films like the Shrek or other Dreamwork films. It’s a timeless classic that I’m sure will live through many more generations.
