Memento (2000)

Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2002) is Nolan's second film and ,in my opinion, his best film to date. Mementos follow Leonard (guy Pearce), a man with short term memory loss and cant make new memories, causing him to make notes through tattooing his body to find the who killed his wife. Guy Pearce’s performance is outstanding throughout the film, selling Leonards disorder throughout the film through confusion and haziness, yet still maintaining an undying motivation to find his wife's murderer, creating a very interesting character and explores a unique array of emotions,, enriching the film experiences Obviously, Nolan put a unique twist onto the narrative, as usual. In this film, he uses a mix between colour and black white to split up the narrative into a puzzling manner, stripping the film of a linear narrative and making the audience have to figure out the story piece by piece. In my opinion, Nolan's twist on the narrative in memento is one of his best mind-blowing twists in his filmography. In conclusion, Memento holds up to be one of Nolan's best pictures and stays prominent to new viewer 20 years in terms of its narrative as well as being seen highly in Nolan's filmography against his over films such as inception and the dark knight trilogy, whos stories and narratives seem way more grand than mementos. Overall, I recommend this film to anyone whose interested in Christopher Nolan and his work before his impressive series of blockbuster films.
