Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)

"Who is it by? *checks notes* Oh Dreamworks? Nickalodean? And what's it about? *checks them again* Three (reasonably attractive) orphans, a fire and Italian food? How dark!"

I like this more than the series. if you look at IMDB the show got a 7.7/10 and this got a 6.8, so it's a bit of an unpopular opinion; but it's mine.

I'd like to talk further on this film, and you're not going to stop me; I found Jim Carry to be good, but as Jim is, very theatrical. But I liked the intimidation factor he brought as The Count (sounds like if Dracula was a boss in some sort of game).

Personally out of all the guardians shown in the film Dr Monty was my favourite, and this is true for the series too for me.

I'd like it if the movie took more of its time, likewise, the series was a bit shorter.

On the series, I noticed it had a Wes Anderson aesthetic. Which I'm not entirely a fan of, but find it bearable. But I liked how it covered more of the books, while the film only does the first 3.

Back to the film, I loved Lemony's monologues and I thought that Jude Law was well casted for it. I kinda think there should've been a bit more of his sceans. If you want to hear Jude narrate an audio book, audible does Letters of Note which along with Neil Gaiman and Steven Fry Jude narrates too.

In the end, If I could, I'd give this a 4.5 or something like that, but I can't.
