Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022)

This review is NOT meant for children (like every single review I made), it contains no-no words but they are censored and also this is a SPOILER review (explaining it in a nutshell by some guy).

So Minions : Rise of Gru, believe it or not when they first released the film I had never seen for 2 whole years! And I heard that the nonsensical critics says "THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE, ITS SOOOOOO SAD I CRIED , ITS SOO FUNNY I LAUGH AND THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE OF 2000000222". But when I finally watch it, it sure was one of these films of all time and I'm pretty sure that there was people who go crazy for this film by saying MINIONS. But without a further a-banana- let's be my favourite colour p£-$ yellow!:

It has a plot: The movie introduces us to The Vicious 6 to Belle Bottom, WRECK-IT-RALPH, MANboy, Nun- chuck is my brother's favourite character in the film but she is pretty lame to me-

Bro: Did you just say you hate religion?!

MAT: No I said I don't like the character but Jean A$$ Clawed is the best!

Bro: I'm out getting my gun and I'm going to beat your A&& criminal.

And lastly not least Knuckles and for some reason my brother says "Knuckles makes chuckles and makes my belt buckle" which is the single greatest line me makes and any ways.

Knuckles and THE BOYS decides to commit genocide to RULE THE WORLD TOGETHER (foreshadowing) and getting the Infinity Gauntlet (huh I wonder what it dose) WAIT A MINUTE! PLOT TWIST! THE BOYS kills Knuckles! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is sad moment where society rejects Gru causes he's a wanna be part of THE BOYS. Wow I feel connective to Gru but his parents- I mean MINIONS MINIONS and watches a film which is this film! Look! His mom is just hooking up with a hippy.

But then Gru was the chosen one to THE BOYS but SMOKE which steals the joke from The Incredibles and the films steals from other better films, boo! Boo! I'm booing at you movie!

So we see

GRU'S EVIL INC!

Full of MINIONS and OTTO, man there are so many great characters!! Actually before we go any further I want to mention the movie's pacing is quite fast and doesn't feel like tired slop unlike most of Illumination movies which they feel like they go on forever. So Gru head to the secret evil layer and meets DR Nefario , you know what giving the sticky thing to Gru is kinda cute. Gru meets THE BOYS but THE BOYS realised he's a just a kid; quote Jean Clawed: "I thought he's a tiny man!", hands down a the best line in Cinematic Classic Not So Junk history

THE BOYS: Loser! You're a loser! What do you have to say for your self!

But then..... the one and only WING-MAN, DUDUUDUDUDDUDUDUDUDUDUUDDUUDUDUDUDUUDDUDUDU, WING MAN!

(Issue#27 Detective Comics) He press his d"ck button (d"ck is a person's name FilmClub so sorry for saying that) and oh no WING-MAN is a plot device and Gru used his Nickelodeon slime to grab the Gauntlet and HERE IT GOES!

AW! WHAT CINEMATIC CLASSIC JUNK! THIS MOVIE STINKS! So Gru and Minions but this is the best part of the film, OTTO tried his Gru's Pokémon card for a pet rock, (fantastic) then sad moment comes in and I cried when Gru was taken away and Kevin sat there crying, it felt real like real life and that's how to find emotion.

Audience: No sh=t he's alive because actually he was alive earlier if you haven't beening paying attention and he is.............

So there is a sub plot where OTTO goes CRAZY HAHAAHHAH GO STUPID LLALALALLAL, GO CRAZY! GO STUPID AHAHAHHA-

He eventually find the guy and (again) where they opened their mouths to the truck is another joke stealer to Cars! Movie have some originally for once! Your not Jack Horner! Any ways the- WOW DID THE MINIONS HIJACKED/DRIVING A PLANE?! But it's the 70's for the time period and I think the film makers are trying to be sus with this, but hey that's just a theory! A FILM THEORY!

Meanwhile Knuckles is grooming Gru and grooming Gru says "Wild Knuckles, makes me chuckles and makes my belt buckle" but over the running time of the film they form a friend-ship (

So they are going to steal (not yet soon) the Mona Lisa AKA the most overrated art ever like a 8 year old can draw this very easy! There no meaning behind it! And makes me want to throw a pie to it! VICTOR IS BACK but as a painting and that means he's still at the moon! (Again another conspiracy theory)

Minions regardless had been ambushed by guards (earlier they quite for some reason leaving Gru left) by meet an old lady who dose Kung Fu and the guard's a$$, she teaches the Minions how to do Kung Fu- and Stew plays Funky Town... WOULD THIS MOVIE STOP COPYING AND PASTE OTHER FILMS FOR ONCE! YOUR NOT SHREK 2!

Oh no THE BOYS destroyed Knuckle's house and lost everything so Gru went off and find OTTO riding on a horse- WAIT THAT'S A BOMB! BOOBOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM-

Gru went off and find OTTO but oh no THE BOYS got Gru and turn into furries but so do the Minions- oh no Kevin turn into the rabbit from HOP, so dose it means Despicable Me and HOP are in the same canon-

You know what, the animation isn't that bad like they kind of tried to make look like a comic of an action scene compare to other Illumination's films which most of them look actually bad like Sing, the character designs are very jarring look at points (epically Johnny's feet) and jezz the texture is way too realistic looking to me, so at the people got their homework done.

Avengers Assemble! After a few hours later THE BOYS turns into rats, aw rats..... can it be ratatouille-Professor Sheep Bottom is here and OH NO WILD KNUCKLES IS GOING TO DIE! (Sob) "Wild Knuckles, makes me chuckle and makes my belt buckle."

PLOT TWIST: He was alive (again), no s6^t! Who gives a flying fu-

Knuckles: "Shoot for the Moon"

WAIT WHAT?! The movie foreshadows the next film in the timeline! For real I wasn't too impressed with fake out death reveal trope but at least it was giving a reason (Knuckles motivation is to fake his death to the world now he was by his own even though I wish he married his mom would have been a better ending) and thankfully it wasn't go on too long.

And lastly Dr. Nefario is here now no longer being a guard to THE BOYS meeting ,he serve no purpose now and eventually become a new come of Gru and the Minions but we got the iconic scene where they fly the plane and the movie ends.

The end credits actually 2D animated and you know what it's a very neat touch to the film and the song (Turn Up The Sunshine) is actually good for once and it's pretty catchy unlike most of it which are just rap songs (no hate I like rap songs, but I will never hate I'm having a bad bad day, it's about time to get out of my way, steamrolling whatever I see, huh Despicable Me!).

Final thoughts: So that was Minions: Rise of Gru, it's not amazing or solid film but it has more to offer then most of Illuminations library. Sure it's not perfect like I said there some elements they stole from better films and yet again just like what I said I forgot to mention the comedy and for once it's kind of funny, even though there are some fart jokes but at least it's not in your face and last for 5 seconds.

Also the movie actually has a plot for once because in my Minions review main criticism from that movie is the plot feels plotless and feels like Minions do funny things, here it feels like Minions doing for the boss, there no real character arc for them (they Kung Fu and that's about it) and I actually quite like that Gru is the damsel in distress and at least movie has a forces on Knuckles and Gru's relationship. Is it me or dose the three main Minions represent the three gorls by the next film in the timeline? Because their personalities and designs looks quite similar, like Bob and Agnes are cute and sweet, Stuart and Eve are the more quiet and Margo and Kevin are the taller and more big sibling like. Get what I'm I mean? (Or my just talking about a franchise that I know way too much)

The villains are quite generic they are bad for sake of it but I give them credit their character designs are pretty good and their motivation actually doesn't sound convincing unlike Overkill which she could have easily destroy the castle and she's standing like a NCP!

The other aspect of the film I'll give credit to the film is the 70's aesthetic, the words at the beginning has the 70's style and has the movie

Jaws dose give you a vibe of it, also the movie is very stylised like I said the animation pops out a lot more. Particularly the opening scene it's probably the most creative part of the film. Also the movie's pacing is very good and doesn't feel like a life time unlike most other Illumination's films. You see this proves that I don't hate these movies just for the sake of it, I hate bad writing and movies are put into effort they stand out and I already said same for the Mario movie, Illumination can make good films when under the right hand. Like guys you done well enough.

Minions: Rise of Gru is a film that I like, it's kinda fun and it feels like the people actually tried with this film (instead of cash grabbing it entirely) but I wish they tried a little more on this film. It's fun at best but sometimes offensive at worst. It's a 7/10 for me.
