I watched this film when I was a kid, and originally it left me with a feeling of satisfaction. After my recent rewatch my feelings have only developed further, which - as you might've gathered - I'll explain in some detail. I am a film critic after all, if I didn't I'd be out of a job! One day, an orphan named Lewis at a science fair stumbles into one of the universe's few time travellers - who's also his son - and then with his son's help goes to the future and, you guessed it (it's even the title of the movie), shakes hands with a dog. Of course, I'm kidding with the shaking hands with the dog bit, it's actually an octopus named Lefty; he's the family butler. I cannot stress this enough I am being literal with the octopus, he's giant, he is an octopus and he is the family butler. I don't know Lefty's gender, I just assumed he's a He, if I'm wrong: Sorry Lefty, your fandom wiki refused to specify what sex/gender you had. Initially, when Lewis was thrown into the future, it felt overwhelming and disorganised, though not entirely "unpleasant", at least the film later calms down and focuses on telling a story, now for this reason of an overwhelming pace at times I'd give this a 4.5/5 stars. I would be interested in seeing a spin off series or movie more directly focusing on the Robinsons before and/or after Lewis comes into their lives, though I can't imagine how this would be done well, I just think it would be a good idea to see more of these characters and some of their lives after the main movie is all said and done. I feel that the theme of "Keep Moving Forward!" Is overstated, but not necessarily done poorly, I just wish it made an effort to not drive it into my brain. But overall, Meet the Robinsons is a good film that's bound to give a person like me a laugh.
