In the mid-century inequalities of Hollywood, some like it hot stands out as a marvel of progressive and non-conformism that amazes the viewer at very fact of its existence. The picture is able to explore many serious topics such as the sexism of the 1950's under the guise of comedic value creating a superb yet superfluous direction for its characters to follow through with its simple yet highly entertaining story line providing a clear and concise narrative packed with joking and hilarity that conveys the surface level of a simplistic film that serves only to tell a joke rather then create any sort of protest or message. This can seen to be the case unless you are able to explore its subtlety. Its subtlety however, is what makes it the marvellous film that it is. The subtlety of protest underneath the ever-present and ever amusing comedy is what forms this film to be far greater than the initial face it intentionally uses to present to the very conservative beliefs of the time. Some like it hot provides nuisance in its comedy that aids it from the eyes of a twenty first century audience making now the best time to watch this incredible film.
