Love, Simon
Simon is an ordinary schoolboy, with a close family and tight group of friends. He knows he is gay but is struggling to come out of the closet. When one of his peers, ‘Blue’, posts online saying the same thing, Simon reaches out to him and the two quickly develop a close bond, whilst keeping their real identities a secret from one another. As Simon is increasingly falling for the boy he is corresponding with, a classmate discovers their emails and threatens to out him. Adapted from a popular YA novel, this is a heartfelt, gently groundbreaking film, combining a compassionate, empathetic tone with a warm, easy humour. It both interrogates the process of coming out and positions itself as a proudly mainstream high-school rom-com in the classic tradition.
Moderate sex references, infrequent strong language.
