Inspire your students with a trip to see The Kid Who Would Be King. This fresh take on a historic mythical legend set in a modern day school will help them learn about friendship, courage and the power of uniting with your classmates in trying times.

You can also engage pupils in a pre-screening discussion about what questions they would put to the director, Joe Cornish if they got the chance. Begin the discussion by watching the trailer and using our 3Cs and 3Ss resource to help with prompt questions to get them thinking about the themes in the film and the inspiration behind it.

You can then submit their questions by end of the day Thursday 24 January. Book tickets now to receive your email with further instructions on how to submit.

Synopsis

City life meets the mythical world of King Arthur when a young boy named Alex, who is bullied in school and disappointed with his ordinary life, finds the ancient leader’s sword, Excalibur. Following this discovery, he must assemble his own Round Table, befriending schoolmates and even working alongside former bullies to defeat the medieval enchantress Morgana, who has the power to call on all the world’s evil. Assisted by the legendary wizard Merlin, famously known as King Arthur’s magical advisor, Alex faces a series of quests that push him to be the hero he didn’t think he could be.
