In the mid-1950s, a small group of would-be filmmakers set out to change British cinema. Their manifesto said ''No film can be too personal... An attitude means style. Style means an attitude.'' These are the films they made: mostly documentaries about young people going to dance halls and amusement parks, but also some short fictional films. All still have the energy and excitement that made them seem such a big deal at the time.
