Synopsis

Rodriguez was a folk-rock musician who enjoyed some modest success in the ‘60s and ‘70s, writing and recording political protest songs which highlighted social injustice and inequality. He never gained recognition in his native USA, leading him to quit the music business and disappear into obscurity. However, elsewhere in the world – particularly in Apartheid-era South Africa, Rodriguez’s albums had become popular. This charming documentary follows two fans on their quest to discover what really happened to their hero. Did he really die? And did he ever know the true impact of his music?

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
