Our glorious summer has drawn to a close and we are now in October, which means it's officially Black History Month.

We encourage you to celebrate the rich histories, achievements and contributions of people of African and Caribbean descent using our carefully curated film lists, covering a range of topics that illustrate British talent across several genres.

We're going to be highlighting a variety of pieces throughout the month to mark this important time, beginning with our Black British Film list.

Black-British Film, a term used here to describe films made by Black-British filmmakers or which have a particular focus on the experiences of Black-British people, has had a significant impact on our national cinema and offers a valuable insight into UK history. The list highlights some of the fundamental titles available in the Into Film catalogue, exploring issues such as racism, class discrimination and gentrification, and are an accessible way to introduce difficult yet necessary discussions with young people from all backgrounds.

Browse the films in our new list below, and click to the film pages to order the DVDs for your film club. Don't have an Into Film Club yet? It only takes a few moments. Find out more and sign up for free today.

A note to all educators - Into Film have made the decision to capitalise the B when making any reference to Black people and groups, as will be done with other ethnic group categorisations. This important mark of acknowledgment and respect has been embraced by several high-profile sites and style guides over the last few years and is now an official part of the Gov.UK Writing about Ethnicity Guidelines.
