Always a pivotal event in the education calendar, the Scottish Learning Festival takes place from September 21 - 22, and this year will host the launch of our dynamic new ‘Scotland on Film' resource.

Over the two days of the event, visitors will find Into Film staff ready to guide them through the many areas of our offer and how it can be used to support the Curriculum for Excellence. Visitors will have the opportunity to set up a free film club on the spot, pose queries about existing clubs and sign up for our free, Teaching Literacy Through Film online course (created in partnership with the BFI).

For educators working with 7-18 year-olds, our new and engaging curriculum-linked teaching resource will feature downloadable teachers' notes, plus a PowerPoint presentation with embedded film clips. Using titles such as Fantastic Mr. Fox (PG) and Sunset Song (15), users will be able to discuss what films made in Scotland can tell us about the nation, and explore the Scots language through book-to-film adaptations, poetry writing and simple filmmaking.

Designed to celebrate Scotland's rich contribution to film, raise attainment and support teachers using film as a core learning tool, visitors to the festival at the Glasgow SECC will have to chance to be the first to experience this fantastic new ‘Scotland on Film' resource. We'll be at stand G25, so be sure to pay us a visit!

Film is an important text within the English curriculum and we seek to utilise it at every opportunity. It also serves to provide a supporting context for other avenues of study; such as novels, functional writing and stimulus for creative writing.
