Did you see BBC Breakfast recently shine a light on the creative industries? Last year alone, these industries were worth £125 billion to the UK economy (Source: Creative UK). Yet despite this thriving sector, many young people aren't sure how to take their first steps into creative careers.
With Discover! Creative Careers Month approaching in November, now is the perfect time to play a key role in young people's career journeys. Below, we're breaking down exciting opportunities and resources you need to help deliver your careers programme, meet Gatsby and other careers benchmarks, and inspire young people with a range of screen industry careers.
If you're new to Into Film, all you need to access our free resources and other opportunities listed below is an Into Film Account. Don't worry, it's completely free and only takes a moment to set up.
The Discover! Creative Careers Opportunity Finder lists careers events and activities submitted directly by creative industries for activities taking place across the year, including Discover! Creative Careers Month England (November), Discover! Creative Careers Week Scotland (10-14 November) and Discover! Creative Careers Week Cymru (17-21 November).
Into Film will lead the Discover! Creative Careers programme in Scotland and Wales, delivering a wide range of exciting activities including industry visits and workshops, online and in-class talks, and careers events at the Into Film Festival. Working closely with key partners, we will be shining a spotlight on careers in the creative and cultural industries.
If you're a careers professional or educator and want your school or college to take part in Discover! Creative Careers events, check out the range of opportunities on the Opportunity Finder.
If you're an employer, creative organisation, individual, local authority or a network of careers or creative partners interested in Discover! Creative Careers, get involved by submitting your events in England, Scotland, or Wales.
Incredibly, since we launched bookings on 10 September, we've already had over 390,000 free places booked for this year's Into Film Festival, with educators, careers leads/advisers and hundreds of thousands of young people set to join us for screenings and events across the UK.
From film screenings and special previews to Q&As with filmmakers and inspiring careers events, you too can join us at the world's largest free youth film festival.

They might want to get into lighting, cinematography, being a gaffer, and all those other roles that go into filmmaking, and for some of them they will want to do something more practical and technical, so it is just about showing them just how many different roles there are out there.
