To celebrate the recent cinema release of Disney's Snow White, we launched a brand-new learning resource. Forest Homes and Fair Reflections is a cross-curricular classroom resource for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (or equivalent), which draws on the magic of Disney's Snow White.
As part of the resource, we ran a 'Mirror Me' competition, which asked young people to create a self-portrait, imagining themselves at their best and bravest, and sharing what helps them feel strong and courageous.
Congratulations to Violet, aged 9, from St Anne's Catholic Primary School in Reading, England, whose self-portrait depicts her singing on stage, and explaining that the support of her family is what helps her to feel brave enough to sing in front of an audience.
"I'm so happy I won this competition and enjoyed drawing me", said Violet, who has won an Animal Discover Kit (worth £175) for her whole class to enjoy.
Check out Violet's winning entry below.
Created in collaboration with Disney, Forest Homes and Fair Reflections is a cross-curricular classroom activity for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (or equivalent) that takes learners into the enchanting world of Disney's Snow White, using its iconic imagery and timeless themes to support learning outcomes across science, maths, art & design and more.
Our Woodland Wonders activity sheet will see young learners venture into the enchanted forest, where they will uncover the animals which live there using symmetry to draw their mirror image. Encourage your class to answer the prompts provided to learn more about woodland habitats and how each creature is well-suited to its home.
