Applications for young people to become a part of our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) are now open, so for all film lovers aged 10 to 18 that would value the opportunity to have their say about all things Into Film - and meet a group of like-minded people - this could be the perfect opportunity.
Download the application form below, and read on for some important information on what it means to be part of a YAC, and discover some highlights from the programme from over the years.
Note - English and Scottish applications are now closed.
Northern Ireland and Wales are welcoming applications throughout summer 2018.
All YAC members are considered to be a core part of the Into Film team, advising us on topics such as content on Into Film's website and YouTube channels, our latest resources and the Into Film Festival's themes, strands and topics. Their passion and expertise will then shape what we change, what we keep the same and how we continue to make Into Film as good as it can possibly be.
Some previous examples of the vital input that YAC members provide includes feeding into a badge reward scheme that is being piloted this year for Into Film Clubs, and working with the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) on their latest consultation about film certification.
Beyond that, our YAC members help us to judge some competitions, and once in a while, even get to attend exciting events as an official Into Film representative. Recently, three YAC members went to a Film Camp at Flatpack Film Festival, where they acted as a Dragon's Den-style panel, giving feedback on pitches designed to attract more young audiences to cinemas. Being a part of the Youth Advisory Council is also a great step in young peoples' professional development, and will be useful in whatever route they embark on.
The Youth Advisory Council is based in five locations: Belfast, Edinburgh, Cardiff, London, and Salford, and meet regularly throughout the academic year. Do you know anyone that would be a good fit for the Youth Advisory Council? If so, download the YAC application form above and get them to apply today!
