Online Careers Sessions

Watch some our previous online careers sessions with industry professionals

One of the most exciting aspects of Into Film's careers programme is our ability to provide young people with the opportunity to engage with working industry professionals.

Previously, this would involve us taking professionals like The Aeronauts director Tom Harper and stunt performer Tyler Kennington into schools to talk about what it's like to work in the film industry, how they got started, and how young people might be able to follow in their footsteps.

As bringing professionals into schools hasn't been possible for the past few years, we have instead been able to deliver a series of online careers sessions, which has opened up access to a far wider audience. So far our online sessions - delivered in partnership with Speakers for Schools or BAFTA - have reached over 4,600 young people across the UK.

This means that even more young people have been able to hear from the likes of Steve Little (Supervising Sound Editor on Everyone's Talking about Jamie), Picture Editor Christopher Chow, and VFX specialists from Industrial Magic Light. We're proud to be giving the next generation an invaluable opportunity to discover what it takes to work in those areas of the film industry.

However, we recognise that not everyone will be able to make the specific time and date of an online broadcast, and that sometimes schools will want to be able to watch a careers talk in their own time, or even re-watch one they have previously attended. It may be valuable to break the talks up into shorter chunks, or useful to pause them so that young people can ask questions, or go away and do their own research.

This is why we're happy to present some of our past careers talks below; to ensure that every school and young person has the opportunity to hear from film industry professionals, and doesn't miss out on potentially hearing that little nugget of inspiration or information that could empower them to pursue a career in the film industry.

Watch the videos below, and check back regularly, as we will be adding more careers talks in the coming months.

The Journey of a Film

Created in partnership between Into Film and BAFTA, The Journey of a Film is a short film that made its debut as part of the Into Film Festival in 2021. Showing as a short introduction ahead of feature films, the film is designed to help young audiences understand the journey a film goes through in order to arrive on the screen in front of them, touching on key roles through the filmmaking process.
