National Schools Partnership and Into Film with Pathé are delighted to bring you Suffragette Social Changers.

This free educational resource for students aged 11 to 19 is based on the film Suffragette which brings the struggle and achievements of the suffragettes to life for a new generation. Please note that the film has a 12a rating, so playing the trailer to 11-year-olds will be at your discretion.

The programme encourages the whole school to celebrate and develop a true appreciation for the social changers who forged the democratic society we live in today. Students will draw parallels between life now and life over 100 years ago, reflecting on the precious rights and liberties we now enjoy thanks to the struggle of those who fought to win them. They will also investigate what social changes still need to be made and the contemporary figures who are fighting for them.

It uses the film trailer and images from the Museum of London's suffragette collection to offer all you need to deliver an introductory assembly and a follow-up lesson, and create an educational and inspirational Social Changers corridor display. The learning activities in this resource are mapped across the curriculum for all four UK nations,
including citizenship, history, English, PSHE, art and design and drama. It will also help to develop whole-school SMSC. Please refer to the the curriculum links document for the full educational links for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
