Developed as a result of six years of research between Into Film and its partners, Teaching Literacy Through Film harnesses the power of film to make a lasting impact on your pupils’ literacy skills.

 

Designed as a series of flexible and short learning experiences to fit around your busy teaching schedule, each module will introduce simple strategies to inspire your learners to improve speaking and listening, comprehension and writing attainment. We hope that this free and accessible course will support your literacy teaching during the difficult circumstances currently facing educators due to Covid-19.

You’ll have the chance to complete fun literacy activities, get advice from Into Film experts and share your experiences with fellow educators on the course.   • Develop prediction, discussion and description skills through film sound
  • Embed character analysis and inference and deduction skills through film
  • Inspire writing in a range of styles using film stills and highlights
  • Deliver simple film activities to assess pupils’ understanding.
