A valuable training opportunity from Into Film, Filmmaking for Primary Literacy is an accessible and free online course for teachers keen to use filmmaking with their students.
Whether you’re a new or experienced filmmaker, we'll help broaden your range of classroom strategies and transform pupils’ engagement in literacy. Celebrate pupils’ unique voices and put them at the centre of their own learning.
Your learning journey will leave you feeling confident in using film both in the classroom and online, you’ll also have free access to ready-to-use downloadable lessons – ideal in busier times.
Our practical modules will show you how to use filmmaking to engage your class in a range of literacy topics, starting with fast, fun and edit-free filmmaking. You'll understand how filmmaking encourages self-expression, creativity and literacy skills in pupils of all ability levels.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Access course content at your own pace, with pre-recorded content and self-study tasks. This course also offers two free live webinars - with a chance to ask questions to filmmaking experts, share ideas and gain access to exclusive additional content not available as part of the course. The webinars will be held mid-way through and at the end of the course:
Wednesday 21 April: Building Confidence in Filmmaking for Primary Literacy
Wednesday 26 May: Futureproofing Filmmaking for Primary Literacy
Both of these webinars are also available in Welsh, please email cardiff@intofilm.org if you’d like to attend.
