Unlock your pupils’ imaginations and creativity through film in our short course, Visualising Stories.

Designed to fit around the demands of your school day, this course will explore film as an accessible entry point into understanding narrative. You’ll be introduced to simple strategies to develop key literacy skills and discover how analysing still and moving images can enhance your pupils’ visual imaginations.

As you progress, you’ll consider the benefits of structuring writing around camera shot types and discover how film colour can support work on character. We’ll cover top tips to make the most of each task and give you the chance to try out these fun activities as you learn. Along the way, you get access to engaging short films and ready-to-deliver lesson resources that will help you to put your new skills into practice straight away.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Deliver engaging lessons to inspire pupils’ imaginations

  • Use the language of camera shots to support comprehension

  • Develop accessible writing opportunities through shot types

  • Enhance descriptive vocabulary by focusing on film colour.
