Add a new level of excitement to teaching and learning with Filmmaking for Primary Literacy.

This free online course for primary teachers returns for its second run, exploring simple approaches to filmmaking that will develop your confidence and bring your literacy lessons to life through film.

Whether you’re a new or experienced filmmaker, we'll share ideas to broaden your range of classroom strategies, transform pupils’ engagement in literacy and put them at the centre of their own learning.

Our practical modules will show you how to use filmmaking to engage your class in a range of literacy topics, starting with fast, fun and edit-free filmmaking. You'll understand how filmmaking encourages self-expression, creativity and literacy skills in pupils of all ability levels. You’ll also get free access to ready-to-use downloadable lessons – ideal in busier times.

This course also offers a free live webinar – with a chance to ask questions to filmmaking experts, share ideas and gain access to exclusive additional content not available as part of the course.

The webinar will be held on:

Wednesday 19 January 2022: Futureproofing Filmmaking for Primary Literacy

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Plan, film and edit your own literacy-focused short film using simple equipment and software
  • Confidently use our simple five-step filmmaking framework with your pupils
  • Design new filmmaking projects to address key literacy skills such as speaking and listening, as well as writing fiction and non-fiction texts
  • Embed effective peer and self-evaluation skills into pupil learning.

Into Film courses are only available for UK-based teachers.
