Explore how film can engage learners in important conversations about sustainability and empower them to amplify their voices on what matters to them most through filmmaking.

Designed for educators of young people aged 5-19, this free course provides practical, film-based teaching ideas to bring sustainability to the forefront of your lessons. Whether you’re new to teaching through film or a seasoned pro, we’ll equip you with all of the tools you need to help raise your learners’ awareness of sustainability issues, inspire them speak up, and support them in generating creative solutions.

You’ll gain access to short films, youth-made shorts and downloadable resources to enrich discussions and enhance learning. You’ll also hear from teachers, young people, filmmakers and international organisations, such as Eco-Schools, who will discuss how they have embedded sustainable practices into their work and lives in general.

Throughout the course run, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with educators from across the UK as you learn. You can discuss your experiences, discover new ideas and share best practice with fellow educators as well as put your questions to the course experts.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Analyse film highlights and stills to explore sustainability issues
  • Use film to promote habits that preserve the environment and protect people
  • Apply simple and sustainable filmmaking techniques to create your own film
  • Guide learners in making films to add their voices to the growing debate.

Into Film courses are only available to UK-based educators.
