Female Agents, les femmes de l'ombre, is a French film set in 1944, during the Second World War. Full of action and drama, the film is loosely based upon the true story of Lise Villameur. Sophie Marceau stars as Louise Desfontaines, a French freedom fighter, who flees to England after witnessing the murder of her own husband. Louise, a member of the SOE, is assigned a mission to save a British Geologist from occupied France before the German Officer Colonel Heindrich discovers who he is and the information he knows about the D-Day landings. Working with the help of her brother Pierre, played by Julien Boisselier, Louise searches for other members to support her on her mission – a prostitute, Jeanne, an explosives expert, Gaelle and an exotic dancer, Suze, who is unknowingly to be used as bait due to her past relationship with Colonel Heindrich. The female resistance fighters race against time as Heindrich becomes increasingly aware of their involvement, and another task arises – kill Heindrich. Female Agents is an enjoyable, dramatic film, which I would recommend to anyone.
