'The Birdman of Alcatraz' is definitely a black and white classic. The prison genre is captured brilliantly and teaches the audience many morals and key values about life. You don't need materialistic freedom to experience it, other objects such as birds can represent life and freedom too. It isn't the sort of film you would watch on a friday night but it is certainly entertaining for a black and white film!
