Almost Famous is a journey through the cliché-ridden world of a touring rock band seen by a pre-pubescent rock writer with a very teenage obsession of rock n roll. The movie has a fast sense of pacing of a quite esoteric soundtrack of the seventies a particular highlight for me was the cast’s acapella version of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer”. There was actually a lot I could relate to as I am a part-time music journalist myself, the feeling of not wanting to trust rock-stars as they are just hired guns trying to sell something and the sense of adventure. Though the film does not reveal much more after repeat viewings, like Will once is truly enough for me.
