Amelie; the film full of suprise, fantasy and french charm! Amelie Poulain, an innocent parisian waitress finds a relic one day that belongs to an old man. She decides to try and find the man to return his keepsake; if he is content, Amelie will become a regular 'do-gooder.' If not, it was worth the try. However, on her quest to find the owner of this child-hood relic, little does she know what is right in front of her, until the end. However, this film isn't obvious at all and you must be able to concentrate to keep up with the random story line! Although saying this, this is an easy thing to achieve because the film will gurantee to have you hooked from the humourous introduction, to the heartwarming finale. Also, the main character Amelie (Tautou), experiences a wide range of emotion during her quest which in my opinion, can not enable this film to be defined by only one genre. The main example of this is when Amelies evanescence of pain is replaced by more positive emotions e.g. love. Overall, this film has it all; sophistication, elegance, romance and a hint of french custom and culture. A must-see for sure!
