One of the first real horror movies, Freaks is still disturbing and provocative almost a century after it was made.

I thought this film was an excellent example of an old horror film. I thought the message that you are the monster or that you make people monsters is very promonant and it creates a strong plot in the film. I like the fact they have used real people and not just actors to portray life as a "freak." I also like the fact that this movie, that was made in 1932 can connect to so many things in the modern world for example the class system of today. It could be shown as the 'normal people' are the upper class people and they are making fun of working class or poorer people (the 'freaks'). In the same way it could also be shown as the level of racism in the modern world. I found it interesting that this film was made at arund the same time Hitler came to power and it showed how the 'freaks' were normal and the 'normal' people were the monsters.
