First of all i would just like to say 'The Horse Whisperer' is the perfect title for this film. It starts with a teenage girl called Grace who owns a horse called Pilgrim. One day Grace goes riding with her friend on a day where the land is covered in snow and ice is all over the roads. Sadly she has an accident with a truck. Both Grace and her horse Pilgrim are scared physically and emotionally and Graces friend is left dead from the accident. Grace stays in hospital for weeks, recovering but due to such serious injuries her leg is amputated and her confidence and ambition leaves her. While Grace is in hospital a vet follows red snow in the forest, she assumes its blood and follows the trail to find Pilgrim with injuries so serious, it is a mirical he is still breathing. The vet trys to reason with Graces mother Annie and trys to get her to let them put Pilgrim to sleep. Annie refuses and so the vetianary hospital must do there best to bring Pilgrim back to health. As soon as Grace leaves the hospital, leaving on crutches, she goes to school the next week and simply doesnt feel she fits in and with everyone staring, she escapes and is later found near the school ground sand is allowed to take time off to adapt. She quickly remembers Pilgrim and wants to see him, but due to the crash Pilgrim is no longer the same horse and doesnt even remember Grace and his kind eyes soon are filled with fear and pain. Grace is upset by this and starts to slowly give up on life, with her old self becoming a mear shadow. Her mother realises this and knows she's loosing her daughter and has the idea to take Grace and Pilgrim to Montana to see Tom a talented and understanding so called horse whisperer, but will Grace ever be her happy, confident, full of life self? and will pilgrims inside and outsides scars ever healed? This film is truely brilliant for animal lovers, with a teenage girl finding her self regaining the bond she once had with her horse. The film is long but in my opinion is worth it.
