What a fantastic, thought provoking film! Following the death of the people's princess- princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II struggles to deal with the grief, the public's expectations of HRM and hiding her two grandchildren away from the murderous press. The acting was phenomenal- Helen Mirren (Queen Elizabeth II) played her part incredibly, personally I would put this down to the fact she has played the Royals before (as Elizabeth I in a mini TV series-Elizabeth I). However this film does give a very different- a very dark- perspective of both the Queen and the royal family itself. In comparison with other film similar to this (based on the royal family), such as Mrs Brown and The Lion in Winter, The Queen is acting in a better manner which, therefore makes the film more enjoyable and makes you want to keep watching. Overall I found the film incredible, The fact that it had actual clips from news programs both prior and post to Princess Diana's death. Definitely a great film to recommend!
