La vita è bella (Life is Beautiful) (1997)

This film is an absolute classic, which I doubt will ever be considered as "dated". This film is a real eye-opener to firstly that good people do exist, which you tend to forget when watching the news and reading articles, and secondly that life truly is beautiful and we should live while we can, because we are not here forever. I think that the film being in Italian makes it seem more realistic, as these events often did happen in Italy and all over Europe. I also think that this distanced ourselves from the event, but reminded us that these acts (not wanting to spoil the plot) really did affect most people, all over the world. This is the sort of film that you can watch over and over and still get emotional about it, and begin to ask deep questions about your own life and it's purpose. I would recommend it to most people, but make sure you have an open mind about the language, as it really does not affect the viewing pleasure of a film.
