A down-on-his-luck English tennis pro falls for a rising American star in this Richard Curtis-style romcom.

I feel as if this movie is a bit underrated. I personally enjoyed watching this movie as it provided a great mix of comedy and romance, but did so without forgetting about the action and sport of it. That is one of the main reasons that I think this movie is one of the only rom-coms that I enjoy (not really a big fan of them), the comedy is more subtle, and although the romance is the main focus of the movie, the actual tennis portions of the movie make sure that the romance doesn't take up too much of the movie. The struggle that Colt goes through in the final part of the movie is probably the best part of the movie for me, as it just adds to the drama of the whole “ultimate underdog” situation. Although the typical “romance sequence” that I have mentioned in some of my other reviews applies here (mostly), Wimbledon does a great job of mixing together different genres into an enjoyable romance/comedy/sports hybrid.
