A classic film with a very generic plot, yet it still manages to engage the audience. You become part of Shawshank prison and feel emotionally involved with the characters as they enter and finally leave prison to a constantly changing world. You will experience every emotion watching this film and appreciate a friendship that can’t be broken. It explores important themes and tells the story of a man who was sentenced to life imprisonment for a brutal crime but manages to break away from the past and gain freedom from a hopeless situation.

Starring the iconic actors, Morgan Freeman and William Sadler, the film highlights an important message, promoting hope, to all those watching. Those who are typically viewed as the underdogs of society are instead portrayed from a completely different perspective; for once, the prisoners are the heroes fighting against the unjust law. You see how there can be two complete separate worlds; prison, where time is insignificant and almost non-existent and the outside, where everything is fast paced and time is the chaser. The Shawshank Redemption is one of the most well thought-out films that just has to be seen.
