If you read my review on Adventureland you will see how much I love watching films about teenagers that doesn't stereotype or sugarcoat, I prefer to watch something that I can relate to. Being a mega Sofia Coppola fan I decided to watch this film, setting a very high bar that realistically, you would have to be an insanely good director to vault, but she did. Based on the book I have yet to read it follows five sisters, restricted by their unrealistic Christian parents (I've yet to hear about parents as strict as this) and thus one commits suicide. The film shows how the remaining sisters are further restricted, only having each other as moral support. Despite this not being the most realistic of scenarios it's still a hugely relatable film. Sofia Coppola has managed to turn almost bubble gum directing into an art, setting pop songs to intricate, different shots not often seen in the cinema world. And the script is just perfect, I've heard from multiple reviews about how Kirsten Dunst doesn't live up to the original character but having only seen the film, she gives off an amazing performance. Do I have any criticism, not particularly, no. I think the final conclusion is a bit white washed over and abruptly ended (Though not as badly as No Country for Old Men) but overall the film is a masterpiece that should be watched by all
