Let’s start from the beginning. The thing from another world made in 1951 directed by Christian Nyby, Howard Hawks is in my option one of the most classic movies of all time. The plot is an arctic team find a spaces ship in the ice and try to get it out. In the process they destroy it and the only thing left is this alien in cased in ice they bring it back and of cause it escapes, and they try to hunt it down. At the time most movies had this style. It reminds me a lot of The day the earth stood still. Meaning its calm for 80 to 90 % then it would go full on with the monster. Speaking of the way you all ways see him apart from the end of the movie is you rarely see his face, The 1st time you see him is when (Ken Tobey) or Captain Patrick Hendry opens a door in the middle of a argument and the thing is just there. I have never come so close to screaming in a old movie like that. You don’t even get a good look at the monster. They shut the door and you see him for about a fraction of a second. The next time is even better. They know he’s coming down the hall so they turn off the light and when he busts in the room the set him on fire with kerosene and flares. It still does stop him and he just shrugged it of as no big deal. For the time the effects on this was amazing. There was no cgi then it was real fire and there was a real danger. This movie started something amazing in the world of film. When john carpenter sore this movie it inspired him to make a movie that changed horror movies forever. And the movie is Halloween. The idea of an unstoppable killer was new and fresh. This started what we know today as the slasher genera. Friday the 13, Nightmare on Elm Street, chucky and scream all came from this one movie One of the best movies of all time a must see if your a fan of movie history. If not John Carpenters remake is for you>
