The film gives a brilliant insight into the 70's rock scene and the life of Ian, which has been foretold pretty accurately besides one or two factual errors. Shot in entirely black and white, the moments of silence where Ian's writings (spoken by Sam Riley) are the only thing that are heard really help develop the thoughts and feelings of Ian, creating that feeling of isolation and seperation from the outside world which was littered in his songs. Definitely one for the Joy Division fans, a relatively decent soundtrack accompanies the film and Sam Riley plays the part of Ian absolutely incredibly. Although it won't exactly leave you smiling, 'Control' is definitely one of the best films I have ever seen.
