A beautiful-looking, thoughtful comedy which stars Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon as siblings who are transported into a 1950s sitcom.

Pleasantville is a film about two teenage siblings - David and Jennifer - that get sucked into a 1950 style TV show. David tells Jennifer to not change anything, but disobediently Jennifer introduces new modern things to the 1950's lifestyle - things that end up changing the whole of Pleasantville! Will they be able to change back Pleasantville, or is change a good thing? I thought this film was REALLY good! It was a very unique idea and it had a captivating plot. I loved how the people in the TV show were ACTUALLY black and white, and it wasn't just the camera effect! I thought this was a very clever idea. I also liked the fact that this film was very funny, but also hit some strong subjects in a subtle and clever way (such as how there was a point where the black and white people didn't like "coloured" people and banned them from coming into their shops. Because of racism, the same things actually happened around the world at certain points in time. I thought they touched on subjects like these very well). Overall, this film was very entertaining and very creative, so I highly recommend you watch it! :)
