Bride Of Frankenstein (1935)

The bride of Frankenstein is a very unique film that I always enjoy watching, The acting is incredibly cheesy and it is meant to be which ad's to this wonderful films charm. I found not a single moment of dullness during the entire film as it constantly kept you interested in the story as it unfolded with fantastically developed characters and an overall fantastic underlying message throughout, the message of not judging a book by it's cover. This message is important because it shows just how shallow people can be, judging someone for being different physically with no regard for what the person is actually like or how it will negatively effect that person. The set design is extremely well executed especially considering this was filmed in the 30's as the forest felt like a forest and Frankenstein's manor accurately represented the look of a manor from that time period.

One other thing I would like to mention before I give my final verdict is that the director James Whale was literally the best person to make the film as it is about being different and he was also different. He was an openly homosexual man in the 30's which was a time when the lines between what is socially acceptable and what wasn't were black and white and this made him an easy target for discrimination. He was also a British person living in America which separated him from the society in which he lived as he was going to be seen as a foreigner, someone who belongs to another country and this would shadow him for the rest of his life.

In conclusion I will say that this film is a definite must watch and I give it a 8.7/10
