Jean de Florette is truly wonderful. It was moving. It proves that foreign films are absolutely brilliant. Despite many pupils being against it - calling it a "long French class" - it shook most of us to our core, myself included. It shocked me how cruel and greedy Papet was. He was willing to destroy a man's life as well as his daughter and wife's just so that he could grow flowers and get rich from it. All throughout the film I was thinking to myself "How long must it go on?", "How can he live with himself?" it was simply harrowing. Some people proclaimed it as being the "BEST FILM EVER" and I have to say it has the mark of a brilliant film - I will never get tired of watching it.
