There is absolutely no surprise that I really love The Babadook, this is mainly due to the fact that The Babadook is not like your average cheap jump scare horror film that we have seen many times throughout this year, The Babadook mainly relies on your care for the characters in order for the movie to do it's job, I have to confess that whilst I was watching The Babadook I was on the edge of my seat, especially during the more intense sequences when the babadook is threatening the mother and son with it's supernatural powers, I cared for both the characters from the very start of the film all the way through to the very end of the film, I cared about the son because of the fact that he has a fear of monsters, I cared about the mother because of the fact that she is finding it difficult to get over the death of her husband, and also because of the fact that she is fearing about what her son might be becoming because of the fact that her son fears monsters, speaking of fears this movie has a good message behind it also, the film is ultimately about fighting your fears (watch the movie you'll say that too), it's about the son fighting his fear of monsters, it's also about the son fighting his fear of being different from everybody else, it's about the mother fighting her fear of her sons actions, and it's also about the mother fighting her fear of what she might do to her son due to the babadook's supernatural powers, the acting is oscar worthy (which I do hope that this film at least gets nominated for an oscar), the film has consequences and situations which are quite daring to put into the film which I absolutely loved because I like daring content in films, and I absolutely love the ending as the ending makes perfect sense after you have gathered up all of the information that the film gives you, I must say that overall The Babadook is the best supernatural horror movie that I have ever seen, and I would recommend this movie to anybody who is a horror fan, the only excuse not to go and see this film is if your not old enough to go and see it otherwise this is A MUST SEE, I am currently debating whether The Babadook should be in My top 5 films of 2014 list, or in the honorable mentions list, I'll give this movie 5 stars out of 5.
