I must admit 21 Grams is not the kind of film I would ordinarily watch: I don't know, I'm not cultured enough. But I am glad I watched it, mostly because it's something interesting and out of the way, both in its storyline and chronology. The film centres around 3 families, all of whom are related: the father of one (a crazy alcoholic Christian dude) runs over the children and the husband of one of the main characters. Yeah, it's quite depressing. However, the chronology of the film is quite out-of-the-way; the film is not presented in a linear fashion but instead constantly cuts back and forwards; the film is almost a jigsaw. I'd say it didn't work out quite how the director wished it had, but it certainly makes the film more interesting and unique. As well as this, the acting (especially from Watts) is quite superb, and Penn does a good job looking handsome - and del Toro is quite...badass, but not in a good wa.
