This film was okay, but it felt like it was going somewhere but then it just didn't reach an exciting climax, it just felt very flat, although it did end on a good cliffhanger, I will definitely watch the next to see if the climax is reached. There were very few fighting scenes, they were either too short or not shown in enough detail. The effects were good but there wasn't any of that fighting for survival feeling that ran through the other films (It felt like a French/American revolution period drama.) It just didn't really work. It also felt a bit too much like a soap opera (I like soap operas but not when they are mixed in with other genres!) The makers seemed too focused on building up the tension for part two that they forgot to put exciting things in this film, but the tension building itself is good and the effects and CGI are great. Would recommend to anyone who has seen the other two films or wants to watch part 2, but otherwise don't go anywhere near.
Its a shame to see a film with such potential all go to waste and for the really carefully built up tension to not be used, they have worked really hard on a film that was just to back up another film, which I find quite sad, they could have cut a couple of scenes, plonked it a the start of part 2 and just made one film called Mockingjay, or at least made it shorter. (It should have been 20mins not 123mins.)
Despite all this i'd happily watch it again...once part 2 is out.
