When a film has been given 100% freshness rating from Rotten Tomatoes it's has to be good...

Thankfully Charlie Chaplin's The Kid, is a film that despite being over 90 years old hasn't suffered from being dated, Chaplin's skills as the storyteller has kept this film fresh with Jackie Coogan as the self titled kid despite playing second fiddle to the Tramp works together beautifully

The film is billed in the first Title Card as "A Film with Laughter and perhaps a tear", this is no lie with the kid in a sticky situation pleading for help, it makes the Emotions work overtime, based on Charlie's own tragic childhood no airbrushing could hide the sadness of this scene.

The film with its score composed by Chaplin himself in 1972 shows Chaplin's wonderful ear for music and the main theme is like a lullaby and easy to remember.

Being a fan of Silent Films isn't a recommendation as this film will attract the everyday person willing to give it a chance.
