The Watcher in the Woods is a Disney film produced in 1980. You would think, for Disney, it would be animated and for younger children, but it is actually a horror film that filled me with suspense and fear! An american family move house to the english countryside, to an old deserted mansion right next to the forest. The older girl in the family keeps seeing strange things in mirrors and windows. She sees visions of a young girl about her age - with blonde hair and a blindfold on - screaming! The youngest child hears mysterious voices telling her to do odd things, such as writing the word 'Karen' backwards in the mirror. This part gave me an icy feeling of something unusual going on. Why is the girl there? Who was she? Why does the american girl see her? There is a creepy ancient lady next door who had a missing daughter. Her daughter looked exactly the same as the girl in the mirror....and her name was Karen! The older girl must stop whatever it is haunting her family and hopefully bring Karen back. There is a twist at the end. However, there is still a happy ending!

It is interesting to see an older film because it has more limited colours and is more realistic than most films I have seen. I would recommend this film to many kids from age 8 upwards who are interested in horror movies!
