This is my first review and im not too sure how to do this but ill give it my best punch (sorry that was terrible) For Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), boxing is a family affair. His mother is his manager. His half-brother, Dicky (Christian Bale), once a promising boxer himself, is his extremely unreliable trainer. Despite Micky's hard work, he is losing and, when the latest fight nearly kills him, he follows his girlfriend's advice and splits from the family. Then Micky becomes a contender for the world title and it is the fight of his life. Even though this is not a comedy I did find some funny moments for example when the ring girl fell while trying to enter the ring and I also believe that bale had prepared well for his role as in this film he is slimmer than in any other film I have seen him in and this slimmer bale fits the character well. The best part for me was when all the spectators at one of mickeys fights everyone thinks he is going to lose but he pulls one out of the bag with a tremendous body shot which tko's his opponent, that for me was one of the best moments. There are however some flaws, due to the film being boxing based it may not have a huge fanbase who would enjoy this film but theres Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale so what more would you want? There was alot of swearing in this film aswell and that may put people off but the bad language just intensifies emotions and how passionate characters are. Overall I rate this 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend it.
