Selma is a 2014 film released on Christmas Day 2014, starring David Oyelowo,Tim Roth and Oprah Winfrey. The film was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards and won a Golden Globe for the best Original Song with John Legend's ‘Glory’.

Let me start this review off by saying that if you were looking for a film about Martin Luther King Jr. This isn't it, but this is one amazing film. Talking about the events that happened in Selma in 1965, it is an amazing film with an extra-ordinary cast.

The story is inspiring, it makes you want to go and look at Martin Luther King Jr’s history and what he has done for the equality of all people. I went into this film knowing a little bit about MLK but nothing about the events that happened in Selma.

I have to say that the people who were in charge of casting for this film did such an excellent job. Tim Roth is excellent and can play such a variety of roles, and in this film he plays such a brilliant character. He really drags you into the roll he is playing and how much hatred he has for black people at the time. David Oyelowo does such a beautiful job at playing Martin Luther King, he shows the emotion and shows what MLK is going through with his family and also with his association of friends and people who support him he honestly moved me with the speeches he said on this film.

The film is also made so beautifully, the camera shots and angles are beautiful they really make the film more emotional. The film uses the same shots that were shown on television in the 60’s. The transitions from the film to the old television broadcasts from the 60’s are almost unnoticeable.

The soundtrack on this film is also beautiful the original piece that was made by John Legend is just a great song. Every song in the film transitions it into a new scene smoothly and also the songs fit so well with what the film is trying to do, it really makes the film, but everything about this film is amazing in my opinion.

The film is amazing. Honestly this film moved me to tears, about something that happened 50 years ago. This is the first film to make me tear up about a cause that still has problems to this day. The whole film is amazing and a definite must watch, it may not be as publicised as other films and it may not have as big actors as some other films, but honestly it doesn't need it because this film is perfect in my opinion. The best film I've watched in FilmClub.I recommend that anyone who wants to watch a great film with an incredible cast goes and watches this film. 10/10 rating from me and I encourage everyone to watch it.
