The film Whiplash follows the determination a young drummer faces when fighting to reach the standard his new, stubborn teacher is expecting. When Andrew, played by Miles Teller, is moved up to the higher group in his band class, he gets an unexpected surprise when he realizes the severity of conductor Fletcher's teaching methods. Although discouraged, Andrew has the motivation to work very hard in his desperate need to become a successful drummer and not be forgotten after his death.

The film touches on subjects like, abuse, authority and purpose, it also merges genres making this film a music-based drama. I was not expecting a film based on such a specific subject, drumming, to be as intense as it was with so many different themes. I therefore believe this film definitely deserves 5 stars.
