Love comes in many ways. When it comes to love, some men are masters while others are left in the shadow, dealing with their mothers or the love in their own head for eternity. This movie deals with the conflict of love, in which love can change or love can come out of anything.
Benigno starts this film as a lonely man, living out a woman's life for her and seeing all the plays or movies around to report back to a comatose woman he nurses professionally, Alicia. He met her some time ago, being an on looker and becoming a stalker. When he gets to look after the love of his life, he takes that opportunity and runs with it. When an injured bullfighter, Lydia is wheeled into the hospital and put into a comatose as-well, her companion, Marco, becomes friends with Benigno in between looking after his companion. He gets to learn of Alicia's forthcoming and how Benigno fell in love with such a beautiful woman. This friendship leads to many disagreements but pulls them together, when situations are dire.
I can't say much without spoiling some of the best moments of this movie but this entire film is a masterpiece. I feel like this movie exercises perfection in every way: it's writing is spectacular as everything is paced lovely and the dialogue is masterful; the soundtrack is beautiful as it uses classical pieces to emphasise the art of this film; the cinematography is magnificent as it makes everything look so divine. Overall I think that even though this film can be weird at times, it is so exquisite and heavenly that it doesn't matter whether you like it or not, you will cry just like Marco. 5/5
