Gravity is directed by Alfonso Cuaron and stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. First of all, visually, the film is a masterpiece; the emptiness of space is well captured ad in terms of emersion, the film does a great job of injecting the viewer vicariously into the action with well shot and believable visual and audio cues. Sadly the full effect of the visuals was lost via the viewing medium of the classroom, in full resolution, in a imax cinema, this film would be something to behold. It could be argued that this is a drawback as the film poorly translates to the 'home' viewing experience, as the full effect of the film is not met.. The visuals also tended to overshadow the somewhat vapid characters, although Sandra Bullocks character I did empathise with and came to like as the film progressed. Overall, I would recommended this film, if you possess the proper medium to view it on, such as a home cinema; if not, I would say this one is skip-able.
